This is a common question that we get asked as people think that lawn renovations can only be done in the spring! But as fall comes closer and closer, now is the perfect time to make sure that your lawn is more lush than ever by adding a few of our Fall Lawn Renovation Services. We offer a wide range of services so that you only have to call one company to take care of your beautiful lawn needs.
See below for a little background and information on the Fall Lawn Renovation Services we offer:
- Aeration/Overseeding/Starter Ferilizer – These services go hand in hand and that’s why we always do them together. Aeration helps with compacted soil which contributes to lack of earthworms and other decomposing organisms which in turn leads to the accumulation of thatch. It removes cores of soil, leaving small holes or cavities in the lawn deep in the soil. This allows much needed nutrients, water, and oxygen to penetrate deeply into the roots of your lawn. Overseeding is great for filling in those bare spots in your lawn and compensates for the natural slow down of the turf’s reproduction. These two services thicken up your lawn which helps strangle out unwanted weeds!
- Lime Application – Is your lawn weedy, patchy, or turning yellow in spots? This may be a sign that the pH balance of your yard is out of whack. Application of Lime corrects the pH of your lawn whether its acidic or alkaline. In addition to correcting pH, lime adds calcium and magnesium to the soil which helps to preserve the lawn’s color and vigor and protect it from damage caused by heat, drought, or traffic stress.
- Topdressing – Topdressing is the process of adding a thin layer of organic matter and the beneficial microorganisms of compost. It reduces lawn stresses, helps keep thatch under control, and acts as a long-term natural fertilizer. Topdressing regularly will also help smooth our bumps in your lawn and encourage a dense, lush lawn. Topdressing MUST be completed at the same time as aeration to be fully effective.

- De-thatching – De-thatching your lawn is a vital part of having a successful, green, weed-free lawn. It is the mechanical removal of the layer of dead turfgrass tissue known as “thatch”. This thatch is really bad for your lawn as it keeps water and nutrients from seeping down to the grass roots. Preventing thatch buildup is not nearly as big a part of lawn care as mowing but you should not overlook its importance to the long-term health of your grass. We use a machine that has vertical blades that slice into thatch and lift it to the lawn surface. After this process is complete, there will usually be a very large quantity of dead grass that come to the surface that we will then clean up and haul away.
With all of these services to mull over, we want to make sure that you also don’t forget about your Fall Clean Up! If too many leaves sit on your lawn throughout the winter that can lead to damage to your new beautiful lawn.
