Hot Tubs and Custom Spas.

Relax Right Where You Swim, or Build a Space All Its Own

A hot tub extends how you use your backyard beyond the warm months and gives you a place to unwind after a long day. Whether you want it built directly into your pool or set apart as its own feature with a custom surround, Envisioning Green designs and builds both, as part of one connected outdoor living space.

Can I Build a Hot Tub Into My Pool?

Yes. A built-in spa, sometimes called an attached or integrated spa, is constructed as part of the pool itself, typically raised slightly above the main pool with water that spills over the edge into the pool below (a spillover spa), or separated by a wall with its own dedicated jets and controls.

This is one of the most requested features we build, and it works with both gunite and vinyl liner pools, though the design and engineering approach differs depending on which pool type you have.

Built-In Hot Tubs: Pros and Cons

Pros
Cons

Standalone Hot Tubs

A standalone hot tub is a self-contained unit, either a portable acrylic spa or a custom-built spa, installed independently of your pool. We install these on their own, or design a custom decorative surround around them so they still feel like a built environment rather than a plastic box sitting on a patio.

A well-designed surround can make a standalone hot tub look and feel every bit as custom as a built-in spa, often at a lower overall cost.

How We Help You Choose

The right option depends on a few things we’ll walk through together:

We’ll talk through the tradeoffs honestly so you land on the option that actually fits how you’ll use it, not just what looks best in a rendering.

Why Envisioning Green?

Whether it’s a spillover spa built into your new pool or a standalone hot tub with a fully custom stone surround, we design these features as part of your overall outdoor living space, not as a separate add-on project. That means the hot tub, the decking, the landscaping, and any structures around it all work together from day one.

It depends on the system design and how independently the spa can heat from the pool. However, most of the time the operating cost between the two would be nominal.

Often yes, especially if it’s going on an existing deck or patio, though a custom surround typically involves at least some additional hardscaping work and footings.

Requirements vary depending on your location and the type of unit. We handle permitting as part of our project management either way.
